Small Bathroom Ideas
Small bathrooms get treated as a problem to disguise. They are not. A small room is the easiest room to make feel deliberate, because every surface counts and there are not many of them.
What stayed the same
The floor tile is identical in all three frames, right down to the grout lines. So is the tub, in the same alcove at the same height. The door on the right keeps its original brass hinges and knob in both designs, and the textured ceiling is untouched. The vanity occupies exactly the same run of wall it always did.
What changed
The spa version strips the floral border, replaces the oak vanity with white oak and quartz, swaps the bulb bar for brass sconces and an arched backlit mirror, and trades the shower curtain for a glass screen. The black and brass version paints the walls charcoal, tops the same vanity footprint with butcher block and a black vessel sink, tiles the tub surround in white subway and runs brass through every fitting.
Style notes
- Dark colours do not make a small bathroom smaller. Bad lighting does
- Keeping the tub, the floor and the vanity footprint is what makes either version affordable. The plumbing never moves
- Brass warms a dark room the way white oak warms a light one
- The floral border at the ceiling is doing more damage than anything else in the before. Removing it is the cheapest single change here
