Backyard Design Ideas: Bare Lawn to Garden Dining

A fenced rectangle of lawn is the most common backyard there is. It is also the easiest to transform, because you are adding to an empty page rather than editing a crowded one.

What stayed the same

The dark wood fence runs along the same three sides. The tall trees behind it, the sky and the cloud bank are the same in both frames. The brick patio in the foreground is the same patio.

What changed

A flagstone path now curves from the patio to a round stone fire pit with chairs around it at the far end. Italian cypress line the back fence, with white hydrangeas beneath them, and deep beds of blue and white hydrangea fill both sides. The patchy lawn became a green strip framed by planting. On the patio, a long farmhouse table is set with rattan chairs, linen cushions, candles and flowers.

Style notes

These designs are AI visualisations of one space, with the walls, windows and layout held constant. That is what Recasa does with a photo of your own space. Furniture and finishes are visualisations, not photographs of a finished build.
